SLP 504 Guided Observation and Clinical Procedures with Lab

Focuses on clinical procedurecs through prebrief, observation, and debrief methods.  Includees guided observation associated clinical methods in a variety of simulated speech-language pathology settings. The lab includes experience with using speech and language observation forms, writing mock patient reports, and assessing appropriate and related clinical methods. of communication deficits (receptive and expressive language to include phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, prelinguistic communication and paralinguistic communication) in infants as well as preschoolers. Topics include associated anatomical and physiological structures, social communication, syndrome identification, assessment; language sample collection procedures; language skills development and early intervention therapeutic strategies.  The lab will integrate the practical application of theoretical knowledge.
