SLP 506 Clinical Audiology with Lab
Introduces clinical audiology and hearing disorders. Focuses on the neurological basis of hearing, psychoacoustics, anatomy and physiology of the hearing mechanism, etiology of hearing loss, and pure tone audiometry. The lab includes the practical application of pure tone audiometry as well as the anatomy and physiology of the hearing mechanism. of communication deficits (receptive and expressive language to include phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, prelinguistic communication and paralinguistic communication) in school age children and adolescents. Topics include associated anatomical and physiological structures, identification, differential diagnoses, assessment of conceptual requisites and concrete language skills; language samples; and interactive therapeutic strategies. The lab will integrate the practical application of theoretical knowledge.
